Background of the Study
E-health policies aim to integrate digital technology into healthcare systems to improve service delivery, enhance patient records management, and facilitate remote consultations. The adoption of e-health policies in Nigeria has been gradual, with states like Kwara introducing digital health initiatives, electronic medical records (EMRs), telemedicine services, and health information management systems.
While e-health policies have the potential to revolutionize healthcare delivery, challenges such as inadequate technological infrastructure, lack of skilled personnel, and resistance to change hinder full implementation. This study examines the impact of e-health policy adoption on healthcare delivery in Kwara State, identifying benefits, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
Statement of the Problem
Despite the introduction of e-health policies in Kwara State, healthcare service delivery is still hindered by inefficiencies, delays in patient record management, and limited access to remote medical consultations. Many healthcare facilities struggle with the adoption of digital health systems due to technical and financial constraints. There is a need to investigate the effectiveness of e-health policies and their impact on healthcare delivery in Kwara State.
